Pietro Silano (Ralph’s father) was the heart of this restaurant, involved in some way each and every day. Whether picking up the bread each morning, pickling our vegetables, or preparing meatballs and eggplant, his dedication and work ethic defined who we are. His spirit remains at the foundation of everything we do.

Enjoy free parking in the lot behind our building. Simply validate your license plate number at the front desk upon arrival. Street parking is free after 6 PM on weekdays and free all day on weekends.

We offer several flexible spaces to accommodate gatherings of varying sizes. The capacities listed below apply to seated, family-style dinners. <h3>Seated Family-Style Events</h3><ul><li>Smaller Private Area: minimum of 20 guests, maximum of 30</li><li>Larger Private Area: minimum of 40 guests, maximum of 50</li><li>Entire Left Side of Dining Room: minimum of 60 guests, maximum of 80</li></ul>A room fee may apply if the guest minimum is not met. <h2>Cocktail-Style Events</h2>We also host cocktail-style receptions. Guest capacities for these events may vary slightly based on layout and menu selections but generally align closely with the seated capacities listed above. An updated cocktail party menu will be available soon.

From the “get go”, they were an unqualified success. Not only did people come, they came from distances to experience excellent Italian-Continental cuisine made with fresh and wholesome ingredients, moderate prices, attentive service, and caring leadership. When the old Ralph ‘n’ Rich’s closed on July 26th, 2006, it was to make way for a place that they dreamed would be bigger and better – replete with free parking, a state-of-the-art kitchen, and the ability to implement private parties. A new location (proudly across from the Barnum Museum, the icon of childhood memory) at 815 Main Street was refurbished to reflect an eclectic blend of old and new. What would not change, of course, was Ralph and Rich’s commitment to the highest quality in food and service, abetted by a specially chosen staff. The ambience would continue to reflect both professionalism and that special inimitable ingredient: a sense of welcome and family. And so the tradition continues…

A New Chapter, the Same Heart

When Ralph Silano and Rich Ndini contemplated a new restaurant on the site of the old Pjura’s at 121 Wall Street, their detractors were legion. “You can’t have a first-rate restaurant in downtown Bridgeport”. “No one will come”. How could neighborhoods and reputations be altered if new businesses refused to take a stand, they argued. Wanting to be a part of the renaissance of Bridgeport – a city in which they were both born and raised – they forged ahead, opening on November 13th, 1990. Miracle of miracles!

Where It All Began

When we saw 815 Main Street, we were thrilled with its location – directly and symbolically across from The Barnum Museum: a place of childhood memory and wonder. The interior seemed cavernous, with quite unattractive overhanging air-conditioning vents and remnants of what had previously been offices. There was a concern for acoustics – the need to create a sense of quiet and intimacy for spirited conversations and whispered romantic trysts. But the potential was evident: the challenge of the blank canvas. From the outset, we were committed to maintaining the architectural integrity of the space: sweeping and open. Patio dining would occur in a garden – a central theme reiterated within. We wanted the interior to reflect a sense of the surreal – like walking through a wonderful dream. Against this backdrop, the kitchen boasts state-of-the-art equipment and computerized communication systems in service to fresh, sumptuous, traditional but creative, cuisine. Our objective: an ambience of warmth and civility to accompany the pleasure of the finest dining possible in an accessible, family-friendly, yet affordable restaurant in our own downtown Bridgeport.
